Big Breakthroughs Are Overrated... Small, Quiet Moments of Consistency Are Underrated

Something's been on my mind lately. When it comes to personal growth, spiritual growth, or professional growth… I've become more skeptical of what feels like a big breakthrough or a big "aha" moment — when everything seems to click, the dots are all connecting, and I feel like I finally understand everything.

Those moments can be great. There's real value in suddenly getting something or deeply understanding a concept…

But looking back, I've had plenty of moments like that where it felt incredible in the time, but in reality I didn't have nearly as much figured out as I thought. In some cases, I was actually creating chaos in my life without realizing it. What felt like a great breakthrough in a relationship was actually me damaging it. What felt like it was going to be the biggest thing ever in business turned out to be a simple moment that passed.

So these days I'm more content to settle into the small, quiet moments… of growth, of surrender, of understanding, acceptance, and discipline. It's the consistency of those little moments that brings the growth you're looking for, not the sporadic, gigantic moments that feel big but need to be supported by ongoing dedication to what you're working towards.

That's not to say being cold or emotionless about it, but understanding that consistency is what really moves the needle.

Skeptical of the big moments. Investing in the small, quiet ones.
