Looksmaxxing & the Emptiness of Self-Worship

Let's talk about looksmaxxing.

There's a new influencer called Clavicular who's all about looking as good as possible to attract the best women and life opportunities. It got me thinking about the concept of worship, which was a big "aha" moment for me in my spiritual journey over the past few years.

It's the idea is that worship isn't really optional — it's a deep human need. We all have this feeling of needing to worship something, and if we don't worship the right things, we'll worship the wrong things and get led down the wrong path.

Looksmaxxing isn't necessarily bad in itself. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look good or be in shape. But like everything else when taken too far, it becomes a form of self-worship. That's the pattern I'm starting to see with this trend — the belief that "if I just look as good as possible, everyone will love me and my problems will be solved."

For young men, it's better than nothing. It's a start... because you could instead be a fat slob who doesn't care about their appearance at all and misses out on professional opportunities and personal ones alike...

But if you get too locked up in it, you lose sight of what really matters: professional development, spiritual development, moral development... all of those things.

Looksmaxxing is really just self-worship in a different form. It happens to be trending right now, and I enjoy the vocabulary and culture coming out of it — but ultimately, the emptiness will expose itself. The reason behind it is really just a search for meaning and fulfillment, and without the right balance, it leads down the wrong path.

So, look good, work on yourself — but don't worship yourself.
