My son already made be a better man before he even existed

Back in my mid-20s, I did some private writing exercises to imagine my dream life and ideal average day…

And a centerpiece of my visions was having a family.

So, I quietly made the decision that I wouldn’t date a woman unless I could see her as the future mom of my kids (which is why I was very happy when I met Isabela)…

And I also doubled-down on career/ professional opportunities that would allow me to work from home — so that I could be around to homeschool, witness special moments, and so that we could have the freedom to travel as a family.

But maybe most importantly — I started filtering my life choices around one question:

“Could I proudly explain this decision to my kids?”

In other words, if I came to a fork in the road in my life, I wanted to choose the path that would make sense logically & morally to my kids — if they ever asked me.

All these things helped orient me towards personal growth…

Just from the simple idea that I wanted to be a dad.

Now, from the moment I did those writing exercises… up until now…

I learned that there’s a HUGE difference between having a vision for your life…

And actually becoming a person capable of making it a reality.

I still had a lot of growing up to do…

And I know, even now, there’s still many lessons for me to learn & much growth to experience…

But for now, I’m thankful to have a small moment of reflection & express my gratitude to GOD for my beautiful family.
